Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is an essential tool to get traffic, grab new customers and get found online from the world's biggest brands to modest personal websites

Through SEO we get the incredible opportunity and access to inbound traffic, but it can be difficult to know where to begin and what steps to follow. Our SEO Guide is here to explain those myths and give you everything you need to know about SEO to show up in Google and other search engines.

The SEO tips are divided into four phases, designed to help make the learning process easier while providing an easy reference as your SEO programs grow in complexity. From the most difficult ideas to the easiest, this is a step-by-step guide to SEO success. We know it's a lot to cover, so each section serves as its own specific reference point when problems or questions come up, or you can take the guide from start to finish for full SEO mastery.

Phase 1: Strategy Development

Before we start helping our clients rank, we have to discuss the goals, metrics, customer demographics, competitors, and how we’ll track new customer leads and the upcoming SEO campaign. Then we do our overall assessment of the site’s SEO and generate report this includes

o Target keywords

o estimated search volumes for the keywords

o Current traffic and rankings

o current incorrect, missing or duplicate citations

o recommended optimizations for the website, Google My Business, Facebook, and LinkedIn pages

o assessment of overall campaign difficulty

o Full list of top 5 competitor backlinks

Phase 2 – Onsite Optimization

Once we have discussed the overall SEO strategy, the next step is to optimize the website and the web pages they have (like Google My Business, Facebook, LinkedIn). In this stage, we make sure the website and all landing pages are properly optimized for search engines.

Phase 3 – Off-Site Optimization

Once the website and social web pages are optimized, then begin to work on off-site internet presence so search engines collect correct and authoritative information. Business information such as name, address and phone number (NAP) need to be absolutely consistent across the web’s four main aggregates and all pertinent business directory sites. We check line by line in each of the aggregates and major directories for duplicates, incorrect, and missing citations–then we correct them. This is crucial for brick and mortar businesses.

The end of three-phase mentioned above is also a good time to start looking ahead to link building and seeing if there are any easy links we could acquire without too much work.

Phase 4 – Link Building, Tracking, Updates

The first three phases are the solid foundation on which to build a website’s authority with the search engines. At this point, keywords should now be placed strategically throughout the site’s HTML and the business listings should be correct. Once the search engines take stock of these changes, we usually start to see some improvement in rankings.

As links from other websites are so important and link-building and outreach are frankly difficult, we assist in identifying other high authority and niche websites from which to build links to our client’s sites. The SEO long game is to continually post new content and build up inbound link equity month after month, year after year. That’s how a business ascends to those coveted top 3 spots on page 1 of Google.
